River Day, June edition!

We usually have River Day in August, but it's been so warm we decided to give the river a try even though it's still June. We started the day with a picnic on the rocks. This tiny butterfly really liked Maggie and landed on her hands several times. It even stayed long enough to get out the camera and take some pictures.

Here's another great shot of Maggie with "Buddy" the butterfly.

Noel got to use his Big Cat skills carrying Nora around. He said it was unfortunate she's too heavy to be carried by mouth. (just kidding of course)

Maggie and Nora really enjoy playing in the water together.

We also brought floats for the girls. Nora found hers too limiting but Maggie enjoyed the security of Alli around her waist.

Nora is happiest in the water.

And water with rocks in it... super fun!

We always have family photo time on River Day. It is going to be fun to look back and watch our family grow on this riverside!

After we spent a couple hours splashing around we got chased out of the river by a threatening sky which turned into a cold rain followed by a thunderstorm. We made it out just in time to avoid the whole ill-advised water/lightning thing and headed over to the Celo Inn to meet up with Bruce, Gail, Rick and Satoko.

Once we dried off we had a lot of fun hanging out together. Uncle Rick loved it that Nora had on the Rural t-shirt he'd bought for Maggie when she was a baby.

Nana brought Nora some little balls and she absolutely loved chasing them all over the wood floors!

This is the awesome room Bruce and Gail were staying in. We may need to go back for an overnight later this summer.

The outside of the Celo Inn. I love a place with no locks on the doors and an abandoned check-in desk.

On the way out of town we stopped at the swinging bridge. Rick and Maggie were a little concerned for their safety.

But bravery prevailed. And silly Maggie made it all the way across.

I cannot wait for the next river day... whenever that may be. Hopefully it will be sooner than later.
